Children at Bright Horizons Fleet Day Nursery and Preschool in Hampshire recently soaked an egg in white vinegar for two days as part of an experiment.
After the two days, the children tipped the vinegar out of the bucket that the egg was placed in and observed that the shell had disintegrated leaving a transparent egg that bounced.
“We put the egg onto a tray and bounced it numerous times,” said Natasha Hoare, preschool teacher. “The children and staff were curious to see what had happened to the inside of the egg, so with a hard squeeze it popped revealing the yolk and egg white inside.”
