Southampton children put weighing scales to good use
Date: 13 Oct 2017
Children at Bright Horizons Southampton Day Nursery and Preschool have been showing an interest in weights and scales, putting the latter to good use.
The children used a variety of materials to weight against each other, such as apples and potatoes, and predicted which would weigh the same and not.
“The children have also been wearing the lab coats and glasses ready for investigating the items in test tubes,’” said Nursery Manager Deirdre Mellors. “They were smelling and attempting to guess what the contents were.”
Both activities were part of the Bright Horizons’ Growing Scientists enhancement which aims to help children identify scientific activities that occur in their everyday lives.
