Edinburgh nursery children experiment with petals

Children at Bright Horizons Elsie Inglis Nursery and Preschool in Edinburgh have been learning more about how to look after flowers after receiving a range as gifts.

The children discussed how they could recycle and re-use the flowers so decided to cut them up and place between cardboard sheets. After a week the children reopened the press and noticed that the petals had changed colour. They then used them to create flower collages.

“The children spoke about what had happened and concluded that ‘they had no sun to help them grow’ and ‘they were not able to grow without water,’” said Deputy Nursery Manager Kate Hubbert.
