A forest school programme has been launched at Bright Horizons Clairmont Day Nursery and Preschool in Wilmslow.
For their first session, the children chose items from the forest that can be used to create friendship sticks, whilst risk assessing the new environment to enhance their knowledge of outdoor safety.
“The children were very excited to start the forest school programme as they love spending time outdoors,” said Angela Brandwood-Greene, nursery manager. “We are delighted they showed a lot of enthusiasm during the first session and look forward to many more.”
Forest school is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through practical activities in an outdoor environment. Children enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. Forest school embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of participants. It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and teamwork.
