Children at Bright Horizons Horseshoe Day Nursery and Preschool in Surrey have been taking full part in the organisations Green Gardeners enhancement.

Staff have set up a tuff spot in the nursery garden that allows children to pour soil into plant pots. The children are also able to place the soil in the pots themselves by using shovels and rakes, all of which also develops their manual handling skills.

“The tray also contains grass and sticks to resemble the environment surrounding the nursery,” said Nursery Manager Keely Fletcher. “The children concentrated hard on pouring the soil into the plant pots.”

Bright Horizons Green Gardeners enhancement aims to provide children with opportunities to interact with the natural world around them.
