Children at Bright Horizons Elsie Inglis Nursery and Preschool in Edinburgh have been recreating their own stories using fact, fiction and real life experiences.

The children used a storyboard that placed pictures on, before coming together to then create their own story. The exercise was part of Bright Horizons’ Growing Readers enhancement.

“Lots of different language was used and great accounts of events were shared with each other,” said Deputy Nursery Manager Kate Hubbert. “The children were able to predict what may happen and used great descriptive language.”

The Growing Readers enhancement emphasises the importance of reading aloud and aims to cultivate a love of books.
