The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children has been shortlisted for a £5,000 grant, provided by the Aviva Community Fund, in a bid to create a new Bright Space – a dedicated play environment for the Ellenor Hospice in Dartford. The hospice provides acute oncology and end of life care to seriously ill babies, children and young adults.

The Bright Space will provide enriching areas for children to relax and play to support their wellbeing; a place where they can snuggle and read stories; draw, paint and make things; use their imaginations; play games and simply be children. It will also provide a child-friendly space in which children and their families can access other hospice services including fun clubs, respite care, bereavement counselling, memorial days, play therapy and music therapy.

The project is being led by the team at the Bright Horizons Springfield Lodge Dartford Nursery, in partnership with the Ellenor Hospice.

“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted by the Aviva Community Fund to create a Bright Space for the Ellenor Hospice,” says Emily Harris, Foundation Development Manager. “The Bright Space will provide a welcoming environment for children to play, relax and have time with their families, during a particularly difficult period in their lives. We need as many votes as possible if we are to secure the grant, so please vote for our project!”
