Children at Bright Horizons Active Learning Finchley Nursery have been learning more about the work of artist Piet Mondrian, as part of the organisation’s Growing Artists programme.
During an art lesson, a self-portrait of Mondrian was shown to the class where the children also learned more about his life. They were shown two of his best pieces of work in The Windmill in Sunlight and Trafalgar Square. The lesson ended with the children creating their own colourful pictures similar to Mondrian’s work.
“The children have thoroughly enjoyed the day and have been really keen to learn more about Piet Mondrian,” said Poppy Hinton, nursery principal. “We are delighted with the creativity they showed when creating their own versions of his work.”
Bright Horizons’ Growing Artists programme encourages children to be creative in art.
