Children at Chineham Park Day Nursery and Preschool in Basingstoke have been conducting a colour water transferring experiment as part of the organisation’s Growing Scientists programme.
The children used different coloured water and tissue, and then put both in pots — one being empty and the other full. The children watched as the water was absorbed and sucked up through the tissue, ending up in the other pot.
“The children were amazed to see the results of the experiment and a lot of discussion was had as to what happened and conclusions were drawn,” said Amy Sharp, nursery manager. “They loved being scientists for the day and are already planning more experiments.”
The Growing Scientists programme aims to help children identify scientific activities that occur in their everyday lives.
