Tytherington kids celebrate Chinese New Year

Carton boxes and lots of bright, sparkly paper were used to create a fierce Chinese dragon as the children from Bright Horizons Tytherington Day Nursery and Preschool (recently renamed from kidsunlimited) celebrated Chinese New Year in style.

 

The children were told that is was the Year of the Monkey, as staff explained the story of the Chinese zodiac and how the Monkey finished in 9th place, after the story the children took part in a parade across the garden to welcome the Year of the Monkey.  Later on the children took part in more Chinese themed activities, from making delicious dumplings and to eating noodles with chopsticks.

Nursery Manager, Lorraine Roberts, explained why the nursery celebrations and festivals from across the world, “The children in our nursery love learning about new countries and cultures,  activities like this encourage the children to build on their natural interest and curiosity of the wider world around them.”
