Shortlands Day Nursery and Preschool

Welcome to Shortlands Day Nursery and Preschool. Our nurturing nursery is set in a beautiful, converted church, where our experienced and caring team provide the best care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Light and Spacious Rooms

Our baby room is located at the top of the building, giving it a light and airy feel with lovely views of the street. Little ones stay in this room until they are ready to move to the next room, allowing us to focus on each child's individual needs and development.

The toddler room is for children moving from the baby room until they are 2 years old. This area benefits from two cosy rooms attached together and has access to its own garden space.

Our nursery room is for children aged 2 to 3 and is a large and bright space. We focus on self-care and encouraging independence.

Preschoolers love their busy and fun room, where we prepare the children with the skills and lessons they need to feel confident and ready to start school. The room also has free-flow access to the garden, allowing your child to explore outdoors throughout the day.

Children also enjoy Boogie Mites music sessions where they can learn about the world through music and song.

A Bright Beginning for Every Child

Your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum, designed by our own Early Years specialists.

Building on the foundations of the government's EYFS curriculum, Bright Beginnings combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's wellbeing, development, and progress – whether that's moving rooms or preparing them for school.

Getting Ready for Their Next Steps

To ensure your little learner is confident to start school, our older children take part in our Ready for School programme, which brings structure and focus to maths, reading, writing, and other essential skills they need to get ready for school.

Discovering the Garden

We have two lovely garden areas for your child to enjoy. The first is for babies and toddlers, and the other slightly larger area is for nursery and preschool children.

All-Inclusive Care and Convenience

• Nutritionally-balanced meals are prepared by our onsite chef. Our all-inclusive care extends to wipes, nappies, formula, creams, and snacks.
