Every child is unique, and so is our support. Find out how we give every child the best possible start.
Whether your child has long term needs or just needs a little support at different stages along their own path of development, we’re here to provide the guidance, resources, and reassurance they need every step of the way.
Inclusion isn’t just something we offer - our commitment to SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) is woven into the fabric of our nurseries, ensuring that each child in our care has the support and opportunity to thrive.
As part of our Nurture Approach, our experienced teams take the time to understand each child’s individual needs, strengths, and interests, creating a warm and inclusive environment where they feel safe, valued, and confident.
Every one of our nurseries has a dedicated SEND practitioner who works closely with children, families, and caregivers to create a nurturing environment tailored to each child's unique needs.
These practitioners are part of our wider SEND network, ensuring expertise, guidance, and best practices are continually shared across all our settings. This strong foundation enables us to provide each child with consistent, high-quality support, no matter where their journey takes them.
We work closely with families, offering tailored support and open communication every step of the way, providing a trusted point of contact. We can help families coordinate with external agencies and access referrals, including:
Our commitment to inclusion is further strengthened by our unique early years Thrive® programme, designed to offer additional, tailored support during unexpected or unsettling life changes. While our whole approach supports emotional wellbeing as a key part of early childhood development, Thrive® is available when extra help is needed. Whether it’s helping children build emotional resilience, develop secure attachments, express themselves creatively, or navigate life’s ups and downs, THRIVE is there when extra guidance is needed.
Your child may never need the additional support of Thrive®, but knowing that every Bright Horizons nursery has a licensed Thrive® practitioner means help is always available if needed - offering you peace of mind every step of the way.
Each of our nurseries has a specialist SEND practitioner with a passion for supporting the children in our care.
If you have a child with additional needs, please contact your local nursery manager who will be happy to discuss how we can work with you to support your little one.
Bright Horizons’ SEND framework supports legislation and procedures in:
England - The SEND Code of Practice
Scotland - Additional Support for Learning
"This support has not only transformed our child's experience but has also had a positive ripple effect on our family life. Through the guidance and support at Bright Horizons, we've learned many new skills that have helped us support our child more effectively at home. We’ve noticed greater independence at home and a newfound willingness in our child to try new things."
