The perfect setting to grow, learn and explore

Little ones will feel at home in our warm and comforting setting, where our dedicated and long-standing staff deliver exceptional childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Welcoming and Inspiring Your Child

We understand how important it is for you that your child feels comfortable and nurtured when they start nursery. Our Blackheath Day Nursery and Preschool is set in a listed character building, giving it the cosy and homely environment you'll both love.

Brilliant Resources to Aid Development

Your little one will get the very best start as they enjoy the latest in early years and educational equipment. They'll be provided with a nurturing and stimulating environment in each of our rooms, which are designed and equipped according to age.

Little sleepers will find the comfort and rest they need in our sleeping area, ensuring their nap routine isn't disrupted. Our toddler room also has its own toilet area to help with potty training.

Becoming School Ready

Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.

Building on the foundations of the government's EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's development and progress - whether that's moving rooms or preparing them for school.

If you're keen for your little linguist to discover a new language, they'll also love taking part in our Italian Club.

Delicious Fresh Meals Prepared Onsite

Hungry tummies will be satisfied thanks to our onsite chef, who prepares tasty, nourishing meals. Meals and essentials including nappies, wipes, formula, and nappy cream are included in your fees. We also have funded-only places available.

Outdoor Space Crafted for Every Age

Little explorers will adore our large, landscaped gardens, where they can make exciting new discoveries at their own pace. To ensure your child has the best experience, our garden is split into age-specific areas, giving them access to the best resources to aid their development. This includes a private and secure roof garden for our youngest children.

Ideal Location for Commuters

Our nursery in Blackheath has excellent transport links, making it ideal for commuting parents. We're located close to Blackheath and Lee Park train stations, and offer flexible start and finishing times to ensure your working pattern is accommodated.

Meet the Team

Blackheath Nursery Manager Colette Irons

Colette Irons

My wonderful adventure in childcare started 19 years ago, when I volunteered in the pre-school that my second child attended (I am a mum of 3 amazing boys). I knew this was what I wanted to do, as I could not stop smiling when I walked home on the first day, maybe it is just the small child still in me! I studied and gained my Cache Level 3 qualification as quickly as I could, so I could continue my journey and discover more about the childcare industry.

I became Manager at Blackheath in October 2019 and enjoyed every part of my journey. I still have the passion and enthusiasm that I had that first day back at the pre-school and am pleased to be able to share my experience, love and knowledge with my team. Being part of the children's journey, seeing them grow and flourish feels me with pride as does being part of a wonderful team.

Laura Wark

I have worked in childcare for over 12 years now. I started my journey as a trainee and have worked my way up completing all my relevant training giving me experience in all the different age groups throughout this time.

I became Deputy of Blackheath in October 2019 and work alongside my Manager in supporting the nursery, team and children and welcoming in new families.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
