Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Bright Horizons Bickley Nursery and Preschool is a modern, purpose built nursery benefitting from light and airy rooms enabling all our children to learn and develop in a welcoming environment. Our nursery is located in a convenient location close to Chislehurst and Bickley Train Stations.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection we achieved ‘Good’.

We have a large, spacious outdoor area and the gardens are spilt into age appropriate areas, which includes a mud kitchen, a vegetable patch, and a wooden play house. A variety of outside activities are offered for fun and extended learning. The nursery staff team hold a wide range of knowledge and experience and we also offer extracurricular activities such as Sports for Tots and Jo Jingles.

Our all-inclusive fees include meals, snacks, branded nappies, cream, bottles and formula milk as appropriate, enabling the transition from home to nursery a smoother experience.

All our freshly prepared nutritious meals are cooked on site catering for all dietary requirements.

We are able to provide convenient parent parking at the nursery for safe drop off and pick up times.

Meet the Team

Kathleen Philpott

I have twenty five years’ experience within nursery settings, including a management portfolio of twenty years. I graduated in 2000 with a BA in Early Years and hold a formal level 3 Early Years certificate. I will be the designated Safeguarding Officer for Bickley and I hold both First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid certificates.

My vision is to continuously provide quality childcare and an excellent service for all children and their families and I will work hard to ensure that we are providing the very highest standards of childcare possible.

Having managed several high profile nurseries and helped build their practice to a high standard, my goal has always been to ensure parents are not only satisfied with the practice, but reassured that each individual child's safety, development and care is at the forefront of our aims.

I am honoured to be joining the Bickley team and to be part of all of the wonderful families here. I believe that forming strong relationships with all families is key to delivering quality childcare.

My great passion is to inspire my staff team to ensure that all children within the setting are provided with exceptional childcare and take the greatest care to provide the right level of support and encouragement ensuring all children grow in confidence, build on important social skills and learn at their own pace in an enabling and creative environment. The key to a successful nursery is the engagement of the whole team, so celebrating success and recognising the staff’s hard work is a highly regarded part of my role and I am looking forward to getting to know all the staff team and sharing the great work they do each and every day.

I am NVQ Level 3 qualified.I am delighted to be working alongside the bickley team and have had great pleasure working with staff, children and parents over the past year and hope to continue with this for many years to come.I will be the deputy designated Safeguarding Officer for Bickley and I hold both First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid certificates. My main aim is to make sure all the children and staff are coming to a happy and safe enviroment at all times and enjoy every moment.I believe that having strong relationships with parents is the key to delivering the best quality of childcare and working together to get the best out of each child.I have worked my way up the ladder, I started as a Nursery Nurse and then got promoted to be a room leader, and from the end of last year I got promoted to deputy manager.I have been on many childcare related courses during my career to enable I have the best knowledge of children in every aspect of their learning.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
