I have worked in childcare for 30 years, having gained my NNEB qualification in 1985. I started my career as a Nursery Nurse within a small nursery chain and soon realised that I enjoyed the managerial side of childcare, moving into a management role within the company in 1988. In 1990 I joined a small independent nursery as Manager and we became part of the Teddies group of nurseries in 1997, which in turn joined the Bright Horizons network of nurseries in 2009. During this time I had my own two children who enjoyed the benefit of coming to nursery with me. I also held a training role within the company in order to share and support good practice.
When we became part of Bright Horizons and having achieved an ‘Outstanding’ accreditation from Ofsted at my own nursery in Crawley, I decided that the time was right to further my own education and attended university alongside my role as Manager, gaining first my Foundation degree and then my full degree and Early Years Teacher Status. As I completed this the opportunity to move to Reigate became available and I joined the team in October 2014. My passion lies in striving for excellence and we are committed to this at Reigate.
I have been working in childcare since leaving college in 2005, where I studied a CACHE diploma (level 3) in Childcare and Education. I have been with the company since 2011 and before this I have worked in different childcare settings. As Deputy Manager my role is to support the Nursery Manager in the day to day running of the nursery. I am a support system for all the staff within the nursery and will help them with their personal development. I also spend time in the childcare rooms and enjoy caring for the babies and children, being part of their experiences and helping them learn and grow. Part of my role is Health and Safety Officer, which means I make sure the nursery is safe for all children, parents, visitors and staff. I am available to answer any questions people may have throughout their time at Reigate.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
