A place to grow

We are a purpose built setting all on one level and split into four age groups. Each room is equipped with high quality, age-appropriate resources and the children have immediate access to our outdoor environments at all times.

Caterham Day Nursery & Preschool is rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and provides a caring and nurturing environment for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. Our nursery is all on one level and split into four age groups. Each room is equipped with premium quality, age-appropriate resources and the children have immediate access to our amazing outdoor environment at all times.

At Caterham, we want to make sure your child feels happy and secure when you leave them with us, which is why we offer up to eight weeks worth of free settling in sessions tailored to your child. We have been awarded the Surrey Quality Assurance accreditation, which enabled our childcare practitioners to raise standards in day care and education beyond the minimum requirements set by Ofsted. Delicious, healthy and nutritional meals are freshly cooked on-site using ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers.

We hold a 5* EHO rating for food safety and hygiene. Our menus change seasonally and we cater for all dietary and religious needs. Our dedicated and passionate staff team work in partnership with you to ensure the highest standards of care are implemented at all times. If we can be of any assistance or you would like to spend some time in the nursery, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our excellent nutritionally balanced menu is changed regularly to encourage a varied diet and is approved by Action for Children. Here is an example of a typical menu.

Meet the Team

Lois Atkins

I started at Caterham Burntwood Lane as a Nursery Nurse, I moved on to Room Leader then worked my up to 3rd in charge and on to Deputy Manager.

I have worked in the childcare sector for 8 years. I am Level 3 Forest School trained with both Level 3 and Level 5 in Early Years.

I love that my role is different every single day with such variety. Caring and supporting the children is such an important job as I feel like we are shaping the future.

I love being outdoors, keeping active and walking my dogs.

Natalie Lloyd-Evans

I started working at Caterham Burntwood Lane Day Nursery in July 2014 as a Nursery Assistant. Over the years I have progressed through various different roles such as Room Leader, Third in Charge, Deputy Manager and now Acting Manager.

Bright Horizons has enabled me to develop my career goals and have supported me in becoming part of management through the Ready, Steady Grow program. I absolutely love working at Burntwood Lane and feel very grateful to be part of such an amazing and inspiring team. We get to support our children and families throughout the early stages of their development and learning and I love seeing how our family orientated staff team provide our children with stimulating and exciting activities every day!

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
