A Bright and Spacious Nursery in Caterham

Caterham The Laurels Day Nursery and Preschool is designed to support your child’s development, from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

We make use of the ample space at our nursery by creating separate indoor activity areas. This includes a Creative Cooks section, ICT suite and an ‘area of interest’. The theme of this area, designed to engage children in new ideas based on their interests, is chosen by a rotating preschool committee made of four children.

Alongside the curriculum, an enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond. Our unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

Our nursery in Caterham has an expansive garden. Children can choose to play in the mud kitchen or settle down in the summer months with a book in the outdoor learning library. We even have a separate area for the use of bikes, scooters and tricycles.

Ofsted have recognised our efforts to deliver excellent care and education with a Good rating in their latest inspection.

Our Caterham nursery is situated in a leafy residential area, directly opposite Town End Recreation Ground where we take the children in Summer. We have a parent drop-off zone and parking facilities for your convenience, and are a twenty minute walk from Caterham Station.

We would love to meet you and your child, so book a visit today and we will show you everything our nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

Meet the Team

The Laurels Day Nursery and Preschool Nursery Manager

Lindsey Gibbs

I have been working at the Laurels Day Nursery since April 2008, when I started as a nursery nurse. I am now nursery manager having undertaken my Early Years Foundation Degree followed by my BA Hons Level 6.

Having had three children, I have first-hand experience of the joys of early childhood. I enjoy my job immensely and no two days are the same; I look forward to seeing the children engaged and motivated in their daily activities. I feel proud to be part of their learning journey and rewarded by seeing them achieve to their full potential. In my spare time I love spending time with my own family, riding bikes in the park and walking the family dog.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
