Meet the Team

Gill Knight

I started working at Nursery on the Hill as a Manager in February 2008 and was initially employed as Maternity Cover. In 2008, I was lucky enough to be made permanent and have been here ever since.
I qualified in 1983 as an NNEB and have completed many training courses since then to extend my knowledge in my chosen profession. I have one son who attended Nursery on the Hill and who is now doing well at school. I started my career in a social services day nursery in Greenwich as a nursery nurse and spent 10 years there covering all positions. I have also spent another 10 years as Manager working for a large nursery group and several years managing smaller nurseries.
I enjoy coming to nursery as I am part of a well-motivated team who continually strive to provide excellent care and education for all families that attend our nursery. I particularly like being able to make a difference to the children’s lives.

Sarah Callahan

I have been working at Nursery on the Hill since 1999 where I started as a room leader with an Early years NVQ Level 3. In 2004 I was promoted to Nursery Deputy Manager. During this time I have gained my Early Years Foundation Degree in 2013. I work alongside Gill and together we lead and guide a strong team of staff to make the nursery a warm, homely and stimulating environment for children to grow and learn. Both my children have attended Nursery on the Hill and continue to flourish in their schools.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
