A place to grow

Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Head Start Day Nursery and Preschool) caters for children aged three months to five years.

We offer warm, welcoming environments supporting the transition from home to nursery, and we provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef. Our fees include all meals and snacks that are freshly prepared by our chef, branded nappies, wipes, cream and formula baby milk as appropriate to ensure that transition from home to nursery is smooth.

Children in the nursery are prepared to transition to school through our unique Ready for School Programme which includes our bespoke Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians programmes. There is a large and interesting garden which the children use every day and can free flow between. The nursery offers a wide range of extracurricular activities at the nursery including: French, yoga, gardening, art, and cookery club.

Our highly qualified team helped us to secure a Good rating in our latest Ofsted inspection.

I hold a Level 3 CACHE Diploma and have been with Bright Horizons for over 10 years. I joined Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool in 2018 and have an exciting vision for the nursery.

I want to make a difference, making sure our children receive high quality childcare and education through channelling their interests and encouraging them to follow their dreams! I equally want my staff to thrive whilst being at nursery, looking forward in their futures and striving for the best in what they do. I believe the nursery environment should be happy and secure, enabling the children to explore and learn in the classroom whilst meeting their individual needs.

I have ambitious plans for the nursery in 2019 and would welcome the chance to share these with you as a potential parent here at Bright Horizons Lewisham. Please feel free to contact me for further information.

I hold a Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education and have been with Bright Horizons for 2 years.

I have over 8 years’ experience in early years childcare and in that time I have delivered high quality childcare to hundreds of families. As a manager, my aim now is to inspire my team to deliver the best outcomes for our children and their families.

“There is nothing more rewarding than supporting children to grow, achieve and reach their full potential. I take pride in providing an exceptional child care experience for families and enjoy seeing the positive difference it makes”.

I’m extremely proud of the nursery and our recent refurbishment means that it looks and feels the best it ever has. Standards are high here and we instil a culture of pride and dedication in our nursery team.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
