Bank Street Day Nursery and Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Part of Bright Horizons Family, which received the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) award in April 2016, Bank Street Nursery is located in a tranquil setting within the Canary Wharf estate. It is ideally located for commuting parents being a short distance from the Jubilee and DLR Canary Wharf stations.

The nursery offers large rooms with plenty of natural light where each child has the opportunity to grow and flourish in a home from home environment. The nursery offers a wide variety of engaging activities which encourage children to learn and explore. We have a passionate and committed team with several of our practitioners holding Qualified Teacher status and degrees in Early Years Studies and the children benefit from Bright Horizons' unique Ready for School Programme including Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians.
Buggy Storage is also available.

Supporting and Learning

Growing Mathematicians

1-2-3-4-5! Mathematics is embedded in everything that we do and experience in our day-to-day lives and our Growing Mathematicians programme has been created to help your child understand the purpose and importance of mathematics.

Growing Readers

Growing Readers brings together home and nursery life, providing parents with some of the theory behind developing children’s reading skills, and also providing handy Hints & Tips, recommended reading lists and suggested activities for parents and children to explore together.

Growing Writers

Our Growing Writer’s approach supports the complex magical journey from making a mark, to emergent writing, to confident writer, laying the foundational skills that enable each child to flourish with the confidence and capability to succeed at school.

Meet the Team

Abraham Dartey-Zaffar

I have been with Little Unicorn Day Nurseries since 2010, working as a practitioner through to being Manager at Westferry Circus, before the Little Unicorns were acquired by Bright Horizons Family Solutions in July 2016. Prior to starting at the Little Unicorn, I have worked variously with both children and adults, starting out as a primary school teacher through to college tutoring.

I have gained an EYP [Early Years Professional] status qualification, England in 2013; which is an early years specific and relevant qualification for the UK.  Besides that I have earned a BA and an MSc degrees. My interests in the Early Years are in the areas of Observation, Assessment and Planning; Curriculum Development and Leadership, as these support children to flourish in their learning and development.

Nichola Griffin

I always knew that I wanted to work with young children, particularly as an Early Years Teacher, from a very young age. I initially completed my CACHE level 3 qualification in 2006, before studying Early Childhood Studies at the University of Chester. I worked part time while completing my degree, gaining valuable experience and cementing my passion for high quality early years education. I proceeded to complete my Early Years Professional Status whilst progressing my career and becoming room leader within a preschool room.

In 2012 I was lucky enough to receive an Early Years Teacher role, and quickly took on the role of Deputy Manager alongside this, working 50% in the rooms teaching and 50% office based. In 2016 I decided to expand my knowledge base and was lucky enough to gain employment with a Local Authority, working as an Early Help Officer, working with some of the most vulnerable families in the local community. During this time I gained an immeasurable amount of experience, helping to raise the standards of parenting, and ensuring every child was given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

In March 2017 I took the plunge and moved from Manchester to London, which is where my Bright Horizons journey begins, as Deputy Manager for Bank Street nursery in Canary Wharf! I have loved my time with Bright Horizons so far, and look forward to continuing my career with the company!
