Bright Horizons East India Dock Day Nursery

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

East India Dock Day Nursery provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months - 3 years and is located in a secure residential area less than a minute's walk from East India DLR, with only a 20 minute walk to Canary Wharf.

Our experienced and friendly staff team welcome parents and children to our beautiful newly refurbished nursery, where our age-appropriate rooms have lots of natural light, lots of space and plenty of activities which allow children to explore and learn safely and at their own pace.

Bright Horizons nurseries have a wide range of play and learning opportunities designed to encourage happy, confident children who are ready to enjoy a lifelong journey of learning, including our unique Growing Programmes, a unique set of enhancements which focus on reading, writing, science, maths, physical activity and art. To complement our Growing programmes, children take part in Bilingual Beats sessions, learning Spanish and French – and we even have our own multilingual staff to support them too. The Creative Cooks programme allows the children to participate in preparing healthy snacks with the nursery chef (we pride ourselves on providing excellent nutritionally balanced menus with fresh ingredients).

We’re also very keen on keeping active and exploring the outdoors – East India Dock children can often be found in our two private free flow garden settings, as well as enjoying our local park and riverside excursions.

Meet the Team

Alexandra Keys

I came to London in 2011 to complete my BA in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) through a study abroad programme. After completing my degree, I returned to America where I worked for Bright Horizons for a short time. I returned to London in 2012 to complete a Masters degree in International Child Studies. I worked for My Nursery as a nursery nurse, then worked my way up to Manager. My Nursery was acquired by Bright Horizons in December 2015. I have two children, Poppy and Sophie. I am passionate about early years and ensuring children are provided with every opportunity to develop and learn through play.

Jasmen Begum

I’ve been working in childcare for the last 8 years. I started off from being a nursery nurse and then went straight onto being a manager for a small run before deciding to come and work for My Nursery as a deputy manager again for a larger run nursery. I have thoroughly enjoyed my whole experience with My Nursery and still enjoying being part of Bright Horizons. I love interacting with children and watching them grow in confidence into young little adult. It’s a great pleasure knowing that we as carers play a huge part in the first years of their life. I have recently passed my BTEC Level 3 in business and management. I enjoy what I do and love my job.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
