Day Nurseries & Preschool in Spitalfields

Bright Horizons Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool provides care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are located right next to Spitalfields market, convenient for Liverpool Street Underground Station and Shoreditch High Street Station. The highly qualified team at our nursery helped us secure an Outstanding rating in our latest Ofsted inspection.

Our children enjoy what the outdoors has to offer in our compact outdoor area with Gardening club and mud kitchen area. Children are further able to explore their surroundings and learn about the wider world through walks and trips out. The bright, well-designed building with designated rooms for each age group provides a welcoming and secure environment for babies and children to learn and play, including a large baby space with its own sleep area.

Extracurricular activities include bilingual beats and dance lessons. Children in the nursery are also well prepared to transition to school with the unique Ready for School Programme, which includes Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians. There is an annual graduation ceremony to celebrate children’s achievements before going to school.

We provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef.

Meet the Team

Sarah Mitchell

I have been at Spitalfields Nursery and Preschool since 2013, and was promoted to manager of the centre in 2015. I have been working in childcare since 2010. I started by completing an Apprenticeship.

As a new manager I am full of ideas and changes I want to implement to make sure everyone gets the best out of this beautiful city nursery. I am very driven and have a genuine passion for my team, the children and the nursery. I have a fantastic support team of hard working, motivated nursery nurses and seniors that set a high standard of care and enabling environments for the children to thrive and learn here.

I can say we lead by focusing on the HEART principles of Bright Horizons and we are committed to ensuring that the company vision of Keeping Everyone Safe is embedded as part of our culture of behaviour safety.

Katherine Saunders

I have been working in childcare since 2005, and have been part of Bright Horizons since 2010. I’ve made the progression from nursery nurse to deputy manager over the years, and of course would like to progress further in my career. I have been at Spitalfields since 2015 as deputy manager. I previously worked at City Child Nursery and Preschool, also a part of the Bright Horizons family, making the step up from third in charge to deputy manager. I have a real passion for my job and love making a difference in people’s lives. Creating a simulating and secure environment for all.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
