A place to grow

Heron Quays Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

We’re only 500m from Canary Wharf, and with Heron Quays DLR, South Quay DLR, and Canary Wharf Tube just a short walk away, we are ideally located for commuting parents.

Bright Horizons nurseries have a wide range of play and learning activities designed to encourage happy, confident children who are ready to enjoy a lifelong journey of learning, including our Growing Programmes, a unique set of enhancements focusing on reading, writing, science, maths, physical activity and art.

Heron Quays Nursery is packed with unique parent and child friendly features: we have an underground buggy storage on-site, and parents can relax and enjoy tea and coffee in our relaxing parent room.

Our outdoor space is a popular, beautifully designed space for play and learning, giving Heron Quays children the opportunity to explore the world around them, getting active on slides and other favourite play equipment. If it's too cold to play outdoors, we have a soft play room for the children to explore.

Meet the Team

Chesham Bois Nursery Manager

Gemma Lester

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Senior Manager for your child’s nursery.

I have worked in childcare for the past 16 years. Initially joining Asquith Nurseries, acquired by Bright Horizons in 2016. Overall, I have been with the company for 13 years, for which 10 I have been a Nursery Manager.  In 2017, I was promoted to the position of Senior Nursery Manager, primarily supporting nurseries in London and the surrounding areas.

I am very passionate about early year’s education and developing children to be life-long learners, which I believe is crucial in the ever-changing world that we live in.

I will work closely with my senior management team, in addition to you as parents, your children and with the support of the entire staff to ensure your children prepare fully for the next stage of their learning.

Chanique - Deputy Nursery Manager

Chanique Thomas

Hi my name is Chanique Thomas and I have been working as a Deputy Manager with Bright Horizons Heron Quays since August 2016. I have a Level 2 & 3 in Childcare, Level 2 in Team Leading and Level 3 in Management.  I have over 10 years’ experience with working with children and 1 year was spent working in Dubai which allowed me to gain a wide range of knowledge. I really enjoy working with children and hope to further my studies in childcare.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
