Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Heron Quays Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We’re only 500m from Canary Wharf, and with Heron Quays DLR and Canary Wharf Tube just a short walk away, we are ideally located for commuting parents.

Bright Horizons nurseries have a wide range of play and learning activities designed to encourage happy, confident children who are ready to enjoy a lifelong journey of learning, including our Growing Programmes, a unique set of enhancements focusing on reading, writing, science, maths, physical activity and art. Heron Quays children also enjoy extra-curricular Spanish, Mandarin and music lessons.

Heron Quays Nursery is packed with unique parent and child friendly features: we have an underground buggy storage on-site, and parents can relax and enjoy tea and coffee in our relaxing reception areas. Hair-cuts happen in our unique Bumper Care hair salon on Wednesdays, where little ones can watch cartoons as their hair is styled. Our outdoor space is a popular, beautifully designed space for play and learning, giving Heron Quays children the opportunity to explore the world around them, getting active on slides and other favourite play equipment.

Meet the Team

Ditta Kankulya

I have been with Bright Horizons since 2005 starting as a Nursery Assistant and now Nursery Manager. I started in Bright Horizons Hyde Park and then moved on to become Deputy Manager at Bright Horizons Regents Park. Since being promoted to Nursery Manager I have managed two outstanding nurseries at Bright Horizons Beckenham and Bright Horizons Wandsworth Common. I have been supporting the Canary Wharf nurseries since 2017, with the first posting at Canada Square and now at Heron Quays.
I have a NVQ Level 4 and Level 5 diploma in childcare and business  management.

Chanique Thomas

Hi my name is Chanique Thomas and I have been working as a Deputy Manager with Bright Horizons Heron Quays since August 2016. I have a Level 2 & 3 in Childcare, Level 2 in Team Leading and Level 3 in Management.  I have over 10 years’ experience with working with children and 1 year was spent working in Dubai which allowed me to gain a wide range of knowledge. I really enjoy working with children and hope to further my studies in childcare.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
