Canada Square Day Nursery and Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Canada Square Nursery provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We’re very close to the Jubilee Line, and are located just outside of the shopping mall – perfect for parents who are commuting in to work (or ready to shop). We pride ourselves on our welcoming and friendly atmosphere - our nursery has an extremely low staff turnover and our staff offer high-quality, professional care within an extremely secure nursery environment.

Canada Square Nursery children enjoy different sounds, lights and tactile toys in the ‘Sensory Room’, get energetic and jump around in the ‘Bounce Room’, or explore our enormous ‘Play Room’ – an impressively sized space for fun and learning which includes ride-in cars, a Wendy House and a large sand-pit. We also take advantage of our location – with daily trips out along the riverside to watch the clipper boats.

Bright Horizons nurseries have a wide range of play and learning activities designed to encourage happy, confident children who are ready to enjoy a lifelong journey of learning, including our unique Growing Programmes, a unique set of enhancements which focus on reading, writing, science, maths, physical activity and art. We also enjoy weekly visits from our Sports Coach and Bilingual Beats extracurricular sessions at no extra cost.

Nutrition

Our excellent nutritionally balanced menu is changed regularly to encourage a varied diet and is approved by the Childrens Food Trust. Here is an example of a typical menu.

Meet the Team

Emma Van Rooyen

I have been a Nursery Manager for 16 years and have been in childcare since 1984 at various nurseries, but predominantly in Tower Hamlets. I have an NNEB and NVQ4 in management and childcare qualification and lots of other qualifications for short courses related to the childcare industry.

I have been working at Bright Horizons Heron Quays nursery for the last year and have found it extremely rewarding. At the beginning of October 2017 I moved over to be the manager at Canada Square nursery  and I am hugely excited to be working here now. Working in partnership with parents is extremely important for me so I offer an 'Open Door' policy where you can drop in for a chat, advice or just a cup of tea. I also like to do weekly memos to keep parents up to date on events in the nursery.

I have been working in Canary Wharf for 6 years where I started as a Qualified Practitioner. I qualified in 2007 with a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. I have been working in a nursery setting for 11 years.  I am now Deputy Manager at Canada Square Nursery and enjoy working alongside a fabulous team.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
