A place to grow

West Norwood Day Nursery and Preschool in West Dulwich (formerly Asquith Chancellor Grove Private Preschool and Day Nursery) is a beautifully designed nursery with a highly qualified, friendly team providing a caring and nurturing environment for children aged from 3 months to 5 years.

We fully understand how daunting the prospect of leaving your child in the care of someone else can be, therefore, we offer a settling in programme designed around your family's needs. This is to ensure a smooth transition into the nursery environment. Every child is assigned a key person who works in partnership with parents to ensure each child's individual routines are met and that they feel happy, secure and engaged in the right kind of activities.

The specially designed, spacious rooms are equipped with premium quality, age-appropriate furniture and resources from Community Playthings. Each room has direct access to their own age-appropriate garden and there is also a stunning all-weather outdoor play area, which features a hobbit house, cycle track, small climbing frame, water feature, stage area, and much more!

Delicious, healthy and nutritional meals are freshly cooked on-site using ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers.

We invite you to come along for a personal tour of the nursery soon!

Meet the Team

Nursery Manager Chancellor Grove

Shaneic Simpson

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. I hold an education degree, an early year's teachers status and have over 10 years childcare experience. I have now been working with Bright Horizons for more than 2 years, and I absolutely love my job.

Being a leader, I believe in creating an atmosphere where I am working in partnership to ensure children feel challenged to learn and develop, and where staff feel happy to come to work.

I have been working in childcare since 2016, working my way up from my Level 3 Apprenticeship to now Deputy Manager; I have also studied my Level 3 SENCo. From my very first day in childcare, I loved the atmosphere and the environments I was able to create for the children. I have worked with all age ranges in early years from birth to 5 years; every day is a new challenge and a new experience to develop my knowledge and my skills to provide the best care/ environment for my staff/families and children.

I consider myself to be a hardworking and determined leader and role model, I believe that building strong partnerships with parents and families is vital in ensuring development and learning is extended at home.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
