AN OUTSTANDING AND ENRICHING NURSREY ON WANDSWORTH COMMON

Wandsworth Common Day Nursery and Preschool provides Outstanding childcare for children aged between 6 months and 5 years old. With a warm, cosy environment and a welcoming family feel, our nursery is designed to engage and enrich your child’s love of learning from baby to preschool.

We are passionate about inspiring children and have a child-led approach, planning our activities around the children’s interests. This provides purposeful and stimulating activities that the children enjoy, encouraging their true engagement and enhancing each child's growth and development.

Wandsworth Common nursery has five large, bright rooms offering plenty of space for children to learn and explore. Resources are thoughtfully arranged with everything at a low level for all ages to access independently. Our home corners help to make the children feel comfortable and safe.

Each nursery room has free flow access to garden spaces for the children to play, have fun, explore and learn. In our main garden we have a mud kitchen and plant patches to grow a variety of fruit and vegetables, supporting our Growing Gardeners programme. There are areas offering lots of physical fun, with bikes and scooters for the children to enjoy and the under two’s have their very own outdoor space.

Our enriching Ready for School programme focuses on early academic skills with Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians, giving every child the opportunity to gain the knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond. Engaging learning experiences continue through our educational partnerships, including the innovative and well-established Boogie Mites programme.

Wandsworth Common Day Nursery and Preschool has good car parking facilities and excellent access to public transport. We are open from 7.30am until 6pm each day offering flexibility with options of morning and afternoon half days, 7.30am to 1pm and 1pm to 6pm. We are close to many local parks, with Wandsworth Common on our door step as well as an idyllic duck pond for the summer months with excellent commuting links available.

Our commitment to providing fantastic childcare has further been recognised by Ofsted, who has rated us as ‘Outstanding’ in their last inspection.

We would love to meet you and your little one, so book a visit today and we will show you all our nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

Meet the Team

Wandsworth Common Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Emma Parker

I joined Bright Horizons in 2010 and started my journey with the organisation as a deputy manager, I became a manager within Bright Horizons three years later and joined the Wandsworth common day nursery and preschool team in 2018.

I hold a NVQ level 3 in childcare and education and recently completed a degree in Leadership and management, I love the satisfaction of seeing children who we have nurtured and cared for to go on to their next stage of education with confidence and ready to achieve their dreams.

Wandsworth Deputy Manager Paige

Paige Gordon

I joined bright horizons in 2012 after completing my NVQ Level 3 in childcare and education at the age of 19, I have worked with bright horizons for 8 years working my way up from a nursery nurse to deputy manager. I have a keen interest in Special educational need currently completing my degree in this at university.

I chose to undergo my degree in SEN needs as I have found it truly rewarding working with children with additional needs over the years taking pleasure in seeing them blossom knowing that every step is a great achievement.

My past experiences and being a long running staff member of bright horizons has allowed me to understand the meaning of high quality childcare, going above and beyond making the children need paramount. This showing in our OUTSTANDING Ofsted 2014.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
