I have been a Nursery Director in Tooting Looking Glass Day nursery and is been with company from last 15 years. I worked my way from being a nursery nurse to a deputy manager, to a Manager, a Senior Nursery Manager and now a Nursery Director. I have 20 years’ experience working in the childcare sector.
My role as Nursery Director is varied, from making business decisions to playing with the children. I am responsible for all operational and regulatory aspects, building a vision, which is shared by the whole team. I manage by effectively leading, inspiring potential and will engage my team to deliver exceptional care and education.
I love to work in partnership with my parents by developing a parent advisory committee to facilitate communication, share information and allow parent input. It is equally important to value my staff team, and I am very proud to lead each one of them. Alongside my deputies, I spend time leading by example within my staff team to reflect on practice and improve on the quality of care and education.
I am always keen to continue my professional development for my staff team and myself. I have a diploma in Montessori with a distinction as well as my NVQ level 3 diploma. I have just completed a business-coaching course and I have a bachelor degree in science. I love being a mum to my two sons who are 15 and 12 years old who keep me very active and I love spending time with them.
I love what I do and I am 110% committed to my staff, children and families.
I am the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and Third in Charge at Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery.
I have over 10 years’ experience working with children and I hold a level 3 in Child Care and Education.
Before I joined Bright Horizons I was a manager of a smaller nursery, I have experience as a learning support assistant and senior nursery nurse in the primary education sector supporting classroom teachers and children of different ages. My role as a SENCO can be varied - I am responsible for assessing, planning and monitoring the progress of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I support the identification of children with special educational needs and co-ordinate provision for them too. I also liaise with parents and with other providers such as outside agencies, educational psychologists, health visitors and speech therapists to ensure we are supporting the children the best way possible. I create support plans for children and organise tailored activities/interventions to support their development.
My role as third in charge is to assist Nadia and Emma in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery. I promote the health, safeguarding and well-being of children as well as being a role model to other staff to deliver high-quality experiences and care for the children.
I believe I have a great role as I have the best of both worlds! I stay in touch with the development of the children and I also take part in coordinating, planning and organising a wide range of administrative tasks whilst working alongside Nadia and Emma
I have been the Deputy Manager at Looking Glass since November 2016. I have a degree in Early Years and have 18 years experience working in the Early Years sector and 8 years experience as a Deputy Manager.
I am passionate about delivering and creating outstanding care and education. I am very proud to be working alongside Nadia and the team and it is my passion to give the children the very best start to their education. It is so rewarding to be a part of the early communities that I see form around me every day.
In my role as the Deputy Manager I am as equally involved in the care of children as I am in the general management of the nursery. I think this gives me the best of both worlds as I can help develop the future of the business while taking an active part in the development of the children I so love to work with.
Here at Looking Glass we know that your first concern is the safety of your children and we agree. I am responsible for ensuring the health and safety of every aspect of the nursery. This includes making sure that all the checks and balances are kept to, but it also means making sure that our staff are well looked after so that they in turn can look after your children. There is no typical day for me as there are no typical children here at Looking Glass. Every day and every child is different and I love that my job my job covers such broad scope.
I look forward to welcoming and caring for your child and hope that their and your experience here will be a long and happy one.
