A place to grow

Mount Carmel Nursery and Preschool provides care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years, offering care over 51 weeks of the year Monday to Friday.

We are located off Holloway Road with convenient links to bus and tube stations. We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery across our four base rooms and two outside play areas. A unique Ready for School Programme including Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians further prepares children for their transition to school. Children are given the opportunity to extend their learning through outing to the local parks, farm and museums.

Our nursery embrace many different cultures and the staff team supports and celebrates each individual child’s needs. We provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef.

The highly qualified staff team have secured a GOOD Ofsted rating.

I joined Bright Horizons as a Nursery Deputy Manager and made my way up and was promoted to Nursery Manager helping to support and lead the team at Mount Carmel. I have a Level 3 in Childcare and Education, a Level 3 SENCo and a BSc degree in Education from the University of Southampton. I'm a passionate, energetic and versatile individual within the education field, and I enjoy supporting staff development to ensure we are creating the best opportunities for children to become confident, social and happy individuals, whilst being able to learn new skills, ready for their school years. I am very proud to work alongside such an outstanding team.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
