I began my career working with children in 1999 when my own four children were in school. I worked as a Teaching Assistant, Midday Supervisor and an After School Play worker. In June 2005, I began my Access to Teacher Training course and alongside this qualification I also gained my GCSE Biology and English. I progressed within my studies and completed my Foundation Degree Early Childhood Studies in 2009 and then I successfully completed my BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies in 2010.
I briefly continued my career in a local school, before joining the team at Starfish Day Nursery in 2012 as a Nursery Nurse, working in our toddler room. I was successful in being promoted to Preschool Principal in June 2012. I spent nearly two years in this role and thoroughly enjoyed using my knowledge, skills and experience to ensure all of the children in my care were nurtured towards their transition to school.
In April 2014, I applied for the role as Third in Charge and was successful in my interview. This role quickly turned into Acting Deputy Manager, until October 2014 when I was appointed the permanent position. I worked closely alongside the Nursery Manager, until August 2016 when I became the Nursery Manager. I enjoy my role within the nursery as I get to spend time with all the age groups of children as well as striving to provide a warm, enriched learning environment and support to all of my colleagues and families.
In 2008 I completed my CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education Level3, at Guildford College, and upon completion, I joined Starfish in September 2010 as a Nursery Nurse.
Over the past 6 years I have progressed within the company; I have successfully managed our toddler room before being promoted to room based Third in Charge in April 2015, and during this time I managed our baby room.
In August 2016, I was successful in becoming Deputy Manager. I enjoy the diversity of my role, as I am able to support the Nursery Manager as well as working with the children and supporting my team.
