Meet the Team

Alex Buckwell

I have worked in and managed settings within the Childcare sector since 2005, culminating in my proudest achievement to date, in November 2016 when my current nursery achieved an Outstanding rating from our regulatory body, Ofsted.

I absolutely love coming to work every morning and getting the opportunity to watch our children grow into independent and confident young people, driven by a high performing and motivated staff team. Living locally, I am so excited to lead our Farnham community nursery, working with our families and Bright Horizons to make a wonderful environment for my staff and children. I already have a highly qualified and experienced start up team of practitioners ready to go, and we cannot wait to welcome you to Bright Horizons Farnham!

Amy Symes

I have worked in childcare since 2009 and have completed my level 3 in childcare and development as well as my level 5 in leadership and management. I have experience in a variety of settings as deputy manager, and also took 18 months out of the nursery environment to work with the Health Visiting team. The change of roles brought with it more training, valuable experiences and a wealth of knowledge. I am extremely passionate about child development and I love seeing each child reach every mile stone no matter how big or small!

At Farnham Day Nursery and Preschool I am very grateful to have a knowledgeable, supportive manager and a well experienced, hard-working and friendly team of staff. As a management team, alongside our beautiful setting, we believe our team is our strongest asset that we will strive to support, develop and celebrate every single day. Together we have created an environment that provokes learning which we cannot wait to share with our local community. We embed a child centred approach in everything that we do to ensure that we create an outstanding nursery for all to enjoy.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
