A place to grow

Bright Horizons Crouch End Fields Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Active Learning Crouch End) is located in 7 acres of grounds, which form part of the Hornsey Cricket Club and offers care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. There are 5 base rooms in the nursery all based on the ground floor. The nursery has its own off road car park which is shared with the cricket club and has over 20 car parking spaces. At the rear of the building there are two gardens one of which is used by the under 2's and the other by the over 2's. Both garden spaces have access to 4 of the nursery rooms. The nursery has very recently been rated a GOOD by Ofsted.

Our unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

Our Art and Music specialists add a great deal of knowledge and understanding when it comes to teaching the children creativity with years of experience and understanding of early years.

We hold exhibitions, concerts and shows throughout the year too. Our sports specialist who visits 3 or 4 times per week helps the children to develop their fine and gross motor skills through different sports and games. Our Sports specialist hold yearly sports days for the children and parents too! We also have weekly ballet, Spanish, Street dance and Zumba lessons for the over 2s which is a lovely addition that the children adore!

Active Learning Crouch End Deputy Manager

Samantha King

I began my Bright Horizons journey in January 2016 as Room Leader at Active Learning West Hampstead and was promoted to Third in Charge shortly after. I have had experience working in all rooms across the nursery and helping to support room leaders to excel in their role. I then transferred to Active Learning Crouch End in September 2018 after returning from maternity leave to start a new adventure as Deputy Manager.

I have had experience in many different senior roles such as being Room Leader, Third in Charge and Deputy Manager at other settings. I have also been Lead SENCO in my past nurseries.

I am passionate about childcare and thrive on providing a safe, educational, home away from home environment where children can learn and develop whilst enjoying their time at nursery. I thoroughly enjoy my interactions with children and will often be found with a group participating in an activity, whilst supporting and motivating my staff team in providing exceptional experiences for the children within our care.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
