North Finchley Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Active Learning Finchley) in London offers childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
The nursery boasts a large garden in which children can ride bikes, play sports and explore the natural world.
In addition to highly qualified and engaged nursery nurses, children's learning is supported by a specialist in art and performing arts, a preschool teacher and a sports coach. Focused lessons using specialist equipment in the children's own environment, allow them to immerse themselves in new experiences and to learn and grow in confidence in areas that may become a lifelong passion. An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.
Nutritional meals are provided by our on-site chef, using fresh ingredients.

I am extremely passionate about creating a nursery environment that is warm, friendly, respectful, exciting and enriching, not only for the children but also for our families and our team. This starts with our nursery team, they are our most important and valuable assets. As a manager I always invest a lot of time in my team, ensuring they enjoy their job and supporting them to do the best job they can.
I have always loved working with children and their natural desire to learn fascinates me. I have always seen fun and learning as a package, one cannot happen without the other. Children need to have fun and enjoy what they doing in order to learn and equally children need to be learning to have fun, to satisfy their natural desire to learn.Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.
Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
