Welcome to Portswood Day Nursery and Preschool, situated in a charming, converted house. Our Ofsted Good-rated nursery is the perfect setting for little ones aged 3 months to 5 years to learn, flourish, have fun and make friends.

Our beautiful nursery boasts bright and welcoming rooms filled with high-quality natural resources, supplied by Community Playthings. Every room is finished to an exceptional standard to provide the best learning and play environment for your child.

In our cosy baby room, we follow your little one’s routine from home as closely as possible, to ensure a smooth transition into nursery life. The self-contained room is bright and nurturing and filled with low-level sensory resources.

Our sunny toddler room offers lots of space to allow your child to become more mobile as they explore the world around them. Our under 2’s share a lovely and secure outdoor space.

The large nursery room allows your child to move around independently, allowing them to choose the resources and activities that most interest them.

Preschoolers love their newly-refurbished room, where they’ll develop the key skills they need to feel ready and confident to start school.

Children also enjoy Boogie Mites music sessions where they can learn about the world through music and song.

A Bright Beginning for Every Child

Your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum, designed by our own Early Years specialists.

Building on the foundations of the government’s EYFS curriculum, Bright Beginnings combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child’s wellbeing, development, and progress – whether that’s moving rooms or preparing them for school.

Getting Ready for Their Next Steps

To ensure your little learner is confident to start school, our older children take part in our Ready for School programme, which brings structure and focus to maths, reading, writing, and other essential skills they need to get ready for school.

Exploring the Garden

We’re fortunate to have a large, natural garden that offers free-flow access for our preschoolers. The garden is divided into age-specific areas, ensuring your little one always has the best resources for their development.

The landscaped garden can be used throughout the year come rain or shine and has a wooden climbing structure, growing area, and a staging area for all our budding young stars.

All-Inclusive Care and Convenience

• Nutritionally-balanced meals are prepared daily by our onsite chef. Our all-inclusive care extends to snacks, nappies, wipes, formula, sun cream, and nappy cream.
• Onsite parking.
• Our nursery in Portswood is located close to St. Denys train station.
• Located within the catchment of many schools including Highfield School and Portswood School.
• Enjoy longer opening hours of 7:30am to 6:30pm.
