A place to grow

Conveniently positioned between Totteridge and Whetstone tube station and Oakleigh Park rail station, Whetstone Day Nursery and Preschool opened in 2003 as Magic Nursery Whetstone before joining the Bright Horizons family. Our excellent reputation is the result of our close working relationships with our parents and the fantastic team spirit of our dedicated, experienced and qualified staff who always have the children as their priority and plan stimulating activities to give the perfect prelude to school.

We  use an industry leading online learning journey called Tapestry with which we can work even more closely with you to nurture your child's development and confidence at all levels.

Meet the Team

Bright Horizons Whetstone Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Tracy Fleming

I have been in the childcare industry for over 20yrs, working my way up from student to nursery assistant, to room leader, deputy and now a nursery manager. I have worked in Australia for many years before returning to the UK in 2015 where I joined the Magic Daycare Nursery Group working alongside my colleagues to open our Muswell Hill nursery, I then joined the Whetstone team in 2016 and along with dedicated staff team we worked together to maintain our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating for the 2nd time. We have since joined the Bright Horizons family and our knowledge and development continues to grow as we are introduced to new things such as our ‘Growing Programmes’ and Boogie Mites.  I am also the nursery SENCO and work alongside the local authority to support those little ones who may need additional support in their development.

Bright Horizons Whetstone Day Nursery and Preschool Deputy Manager

Nicole Ivers

From a very young age, childcare has always been my passion. I have been in childcare for over 14 years and I started my career as student helper before I became a nursery assistant at age 18. I then started my career as level 3 qualified nursery practitioner in a nursery now known as Bright Horizons Southgate. There, I spent 1 year as a nursery nurse, 5 years as a room leader and 2 years as the third in charge which has led me to my current deputy manager role in the beautiful Bright Horizons Whetstone nursery. I truly believe in the Bright Horizons mission in motion and take pride in watching the children grow and develop to their full potential during their time at Bright Horizons.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
