Mount Vernon Day Nursery and Preschool offers care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
We are proud to have a long standing staff team and management who helped us achieve a Good rating in our latest Ofsted inspection. Some of our team have been here for over 20 years. We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery and our secure spacious outdoor areas for children gives the children opportunities to extend their learning, alongside a soft play area for children to partake in physical activities. Our wide range of extracurricular activities include Superstar Sports for toddler age upwards, Spanish, ballet and Theatre Bugs for the whole nursery. Children in the nursery are well prepared to transition to school with the unique Ready for School Programme which includes Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians.
To further support this our 3-5 year olds are provided with a uniform of polo shirts and sweat shirts. We have a resources room which is used to support small groups for our children with additional needs and also where we support learning with the staff teams together. The babies and toddlers have separate garden areas to the preschool children, allowing lots of different activities to take place. We also have a family room where parents can spend time while their children are settling into nursery.
The nursery is set across 2 buildings - one building for the youngest children and then the school building. Both are in close proximity and the children transition between the 2 buildings extremely well. We provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef.

I started my childcare career over 20 years ago working as a nanny, a Nursery Nurse and all leadership positions before working my way up to be a Regional Manager.
In 2016 I started my own family with my husband Marc and we welcomed Harrison to the world. Since having Harrison my passion for leading my own nursery again was re-ignited and I joined Mount Vernon Nursery in May 2017.Helping children to develop through their early years was always my passion, seeing the children's expressions of amazement as they learn something new is always a moment to treasure. Helping families through their first years, balancing life and ensuring that we all work in partnership is the key to great success. I am also passionate about the care and education we deliver each day, ensuring the team I am working with have great opportunities to develop and are empowered, being able to ensure each child reaches their full potential.
Amber has been working in childcare since 2011 and has quickly grown in her role to that of deputy manager. She takes main lead in the school building and she is passionate to see the children grow and develop their individual personalities.Amber supports our children with additional needs and ensures inclusion is considered with every opportunity.
Hayleigh joined Mount Vernon nursery in 2017 after starting her childcare career in 2010 at our Bright Horizons nursery, The Park, in Watford.
Hayleigh grew through the roles at the nursery to become a deputy manager which is a role she is thoroughly enjoying. She has worked with all of the age groups and especially loves to see the children's characters develop when they are toddlers. Hayleigh strives to ensure the children are supported through a loving and caring environment at all times.
Bindi joined Mount Vernon Nursery in 1995 and has been working in childcare for 30 years. Bindi holds an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare as well as an NVQ Assessor Award. Bindi also holds First Aid At Work and Enhanced Safeguarding certifications.
Bindi is motivated by the ability to be a part of introducing the concept of education to a wide spectrum of children. Helping to ensure our families receive excellent care each and every day is key to her role.
