Asquith Harpenden Day Nursery and Preschool

Asquith Harpenden Pre-School & Nursery

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Harpenden children's pre-school and nursery is set in a beautiful converted Victorian house with rooms spread over three floors, including a 'must-see' log cabin nursery room.

We have seven bright and spacious rooms, including our new £25k investment baby room, which are filled with high-quality furniture and resources for learning, exploring and investigating. In the main building, we have five rooms for our three month olds to two and a half year olds and a further two buildings for our nursery and pre-school children.

At our pre-school and nursery in Harpenden, we have large outdoor play areas which give the children awareness of space through physical challenges, discovering nature and learning about the environment.

Our delicious, healthy and nutritious food, sourced from trusted suppliers is prepared and cooked by our very own chef. Menus change seasonally and cater for all dietary and religious needs. Please see the menu tab above for our current well-balanced meals.

The children also benefit from extracurricular activities including French lessons, a Little Kickers football session on a Friday morning and Boogie Mites - an interactive music and dance session for children of all ages.

We are located within the catchment of many schools which include Roundwood School and Woodend School. We are open 51 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday, 7.30am-6.30pm.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Harpenden pre-school & nursery. Our friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff is on hand to conduct a personal nursery tour at a time to suit you.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
