A place to grow

Warrington Day Nursery and Preschool provides premium childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years from our beautiful setting within the David Lloyd Club in Great Sankey near Warrington.

The nursery is very proud of their 'Outstanding' Ofsted award. The nursery was awarded Outstanding in all four areas in January 2018.

Our setting is based entirely on the ground floor and all children over 1 year have daily access to our safe, secure adventure garden. In addition, as we are situated within the David Lloyd Centre, we are able to use their dance studio and tennis courts for extracurricular activities.

Children have access to state-of-the-art technology, such as our interactive whiteboard and touchscreen computer in the preschool room. We offer all children up to 8 weeks settling in sessions before their start date so that we can build relationships between your child's key person, your child and you.

Our dedicated staff team pride themselves on our partnership with parents and work with you to ensure that your child is settled and happy within nursery. The nursery is in the catchment area of primary schools including the Old Hall, St Phillips, Barrow Hall, and Penketh South schools.

Meet the Team

Summerfields Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Nichola Griffin

I have worked with Bright Horizons for the past 3 years, starting at the Bank Street branch in Canary Wharf as deputy, before progressing to Manager 6 months later. I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Early Years Practice along with a BA Hons and level 3 in childcare. Prior to working for Bright Horizons I gained lots of experience working as family support worker with a local authority, and also working as an Early Years Teacher within a preschool. I am a firm believer in working in partnership with parents and carers, and strive to provide the best quality care, ensuring every child has the best early years education.

Katy Warrington Deputy Manager

Katy Higginbottom

I have worked in childcare since I left school in 2006. I finished my NVQ level 2 in Children’s care, learning and childcare in 2011, my level 3 Diploma in Early learning and childcare in 2013 and my level 5 Diploma in leadership for health and social care in 2020. Between finishing my level 3 and level 5 I have undertaken various other training such as level 2 Diploma in team leading, letters and sounds and Designated Safeguarding.

I have worked at Bright Horizons since the beginning of September 2019 and started at Bright Horizons Summerfields in Wilmslow as Deputy Manager. I then covered maternity leave at Bright Horizon's Callands for the last 8 months as a Deputy Manager before coming to Bright Horizons Warrington in July. I feel I have settled well within the staff team and I am really passionate about my role within the nursery. I am excited to work with the team and also the Nursery Manager to help push the nursery forward and bring outstanding environments for children to grow, learn and explore.

In my spare time I am currently learning sign language,  I enjoy baking cakes for my friends and family and I also like visiting different places with my national trust membership.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
