Request a call backI have worked at Callands for nearly 25 years. I started as a student working in various rooms to gain experience and once qualified to NVQ Level 3, I was based in the preschool room as a Nursery Nurse. I quickly became Supervisor for the preschool unit and in 2003 I progressed to Deputy Nursery Manager. In 2012 I became the Nursery Manager for Callands.
We have a great team, and we continue to grow and succeed - this is evident with our latest “Good” OFSTED result. I am passionate about my role within the nursery and my team, the children in our care and their families.
I joined the Callands team as a student in 2012 after finishing my Level 3 diploma in childcare. I was then offered a job as a full time staff member in the Toddler room. In 2013 I went to Liverpool Hope University studying Education and childcare studies alongside working as bank staff at Callands.
During my last year of university I completed my Level 3 forest school qualification and returned to Callands as Deputy Manager in 2018 after gaining experience as a room leader. I am passionate about my job and enjoy getting to know the families here at Callands and watching the children grow during their time here. In my spare time I love spending time with my family on days out to the zoo, farms, parks and many soft play centres with my daughter, Penelope.
I have worked at Callands Day Nursery and Preschool for 18 years. I started as a student, before becoming a base member of staff in the baby room. I then had the opportunity to work in the toddler room.
I went on maternity leave in 2007 and came back part time, based in preschool room before I was then offered the toddler room leader full time.
After 2 years I then took the opportunity to develop the children's school readiness by becoming preschool room leader.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my husband and my son Alfie. We go for walks with our dog, Wallace. As a family we enjoy visiting Chester Zoo and we also like to spend time spend time in Blackpool with the family.
Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.
Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
