Julie Court

I started working with children at the age of sixteen working for social services in both children’s homes and day nurseries. Whilst bringing up my own children I worked night duty on a maternity unit as well as doing supply work for the local education authority.
I then joined the private sector managing a small day nursery as well as supporting nine others. After this I managed a large Nursery in Surbiton before moving to Esher and Kidsunlimited now part of the Bright Horizons group.
My initial qualification was my NNEB followed by the Advanced Diploma in Child Care and Education. In more recent years I gained the BA Honours in Childcare and Education and completed Early Years professional status.

Rachel Torbett

I started at Hinchley Wood Nursery in July 2011.  I started as an apprentice doing my level 2 and from there I worked my way through my level 3 and proceeded to work my way up to a Room Leader.  I have managed all ages and I'm currently leading the Preschool room.  From working as a Room Leader I worked my way up to Third in Charge where I got to learn more about the business side.  I also took on the role of SENCO.  From this the deputy position at Hinchley Wood Day Nursery came up and I thought it was perfect timing for me to move up especially in an environment where I started my childcare journey.  I have now been in the role since May 2016 and learning new things every day.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons
