I have worked in the Early Years Sector for 15 years and started working for Active Learning Kingston in 2014 as Deputy Manager, being promoted to Manager in March 2016

I hold a BA Hons degree in Early Years and Child Education and an Early Years Professional Status. I am passionate about providing a high quality of care and education.

Active Learning Kingston Day Nursery and Preschool Deputy Manager

Marie Dunbar

I have worked at Active Learning Kingston since 2010, I first started my journey as a Nursery Assistant in the under 2s Room. Since completing my NVQ Level 3 I progressed to Room Leader for the under 2’s Room. From working as a Room Leader I then continued to develop my skills and became a Third in Charge. It was here I started to learn more about the management side and working in the office that lead me to grow further in my current role as Deputy Manager.

Hema Mawdia

I have been with Bright Horizons for 11 years. I started my journey at Pimlico Nursery and Preschool in 2005 and have worked myself through the nursery up to Deputy Nursery Manager in 2013. I then joined Active Learning Kingston in September 2016 and been working as Deputy Manager since. I am passionate about the work I do and it gives me great satisfaction to encourage children’s development. I work with the Nursery Manager to provide an inviting, safe and warm environment for all the families that come to the Nursery.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
