A place to grow

Harwell Day Nursery and Preschool is located close to the A34 and the B417 on the Harwell Oxford Science Campus, making it ideally situated for employees situated on the campus and local residents. With great transport links between Didcot Parkway and the campus, commuting to the nursery couldn't be easier.

The nursery boasts dedicated home rooms for each age group including a separate baby unit. The large outside play areas ensure that children's learning and exploration continues outside, whatever the weather. Our unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

Harwell has undergone a recent refurbishment and has achieved a Good in their recent Ofsted inspection. Meet the Team

Manager Harwell

Alison Dwight

Childcare has always been a passion since I was a teenager, I qualified with my NNEB in 1992 and was a uniformed nanny for many years before I completed my NVQ level 3 and worked in the nursery environment as a Nursery Nurse. Over the years of working with Bright Horizons I have been lucky enough to have had senior roles with flexible working to support my own children through school.

I joined the Senior Harwell team in 2015 and became Manager in November 2018. Providing inspiring education and care at Harwell is a drive and passion of mine, it's wonderful to see the children thrive in our nursery environment and support busy working families, seeing many of them progress through the nursery and flourish in school.

Harwell Deputy

Clare Luff

I started looking after children as a childminder when my own daughter was a toddler which lead me into volunteering at her preschool before the position became permanent. I decided to study for my NVQ and qualified to level 2 and then achieved my Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development. I first joined Bright Horizons in 2010 as a nursery nurse and over 5 years I progressed to Third in Charge/Senior Room Leader. Between then and now I have moved companies and roles within childcare but now I am settled, and returned to Bright Horizons family in 2017 as Third in Charge at Harwell, later promoted to Deputy Manager in November 2018. Working with children is so rewarding and every day is different. I really enjoy watching the children grow and learn, and feel privileged to be a part of that.

Harwell Third in charge

Sarah Boulton

I qualified with a BTEC in Childcare and Development in July 2004 and then studied to complete my Foundation Degree in Early Years in July 2017. For 11 years I worked in nursery environment’s with a variety of age ranges before relocating from Stock-on-Trent to Oxfordshire in 2015 where I joined a nursery as their preschool room leader until joining the Harwell Senior Team as Third in Charge and Room Leader of Saplings (toddlers) in April 2018.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons
