A place to grow

Our brand new nursery is now open! Didcot offers seven individual home-bases, each tailored to your child’s age group. The nursery boasts a large external play area where the children can flourish and explore while building a lifelong love of learning.

Children in the nursery are well prepared to transition to school with our Ready for School Programmes which including our Growing Readers scheme, Growing Writers and Growing Mathematicians. We also provide our preschoolers with a complementary book-bag and polo tops to help with their transitions to school uniforms.

Our fees are fully inclusive, including all nappies, wipes, formula and meals. All our food is freshly cooked by our on-site chef and is nutritionally balanced.

The nursery is located in the New District Centre for Great Western Park, opposite Gems primary school. The nearest train station is Didcot Parkway (1.5 miles), with fast trains into London taking 45 minutes.

Mollie Edmunds

Mollie has worked with Bright Horizons since 2011 when she started as a Level 3 Nursery Nurse; since then she has worked her way up to Nursery Manager and gained her BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood studies. Mollie has worked in both Bright Horizons client and community nurseries and was part of the team that opened our Oxford University nursery before going on to manage our UCAS Client nursery.

With her wealth of experience in both managing and opening nurseries, Mollie was the perfect candidate for setting up our beautiful Didcot setting. She has been based at Didcot since we were handed the keys from the builders and has created a beautiful home from home environment.

Ashleigh Simonds

I started with Bright Horizons when the Didcot nursery opened in September 2018. Previously to this I had worked for another company where I started as a Level 3 Nursery Nurse and worked my way up to manage the setting, all together I have worked in childcare for 10 years. Throughout this time I have completed my BA in Children’s Learning and Development at Reading University, as well as having my own child. I am looking forward to getting to know all the families and working with them to care for the children.

Ellis Corcoran

Ellis has worked in childcare for 11 years within a range of settings with children from birth to 11 years old. Prior to Ellis joining Didcot, she has worked at our Bright Horizons St.Mary’s Nursery in Abingdon for 2 ½ years as the Baby Room Leader and Third in Charge.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
