Our welcoming day nursery and preschool in Guildford is designed to support your child’s development, from the age of 3 months to 5 years.
We understand it can be an adjustment to settle into nursery life, for both you and your child. This is why we offer you up to 8 weeks of settling in sessions. These sessions give you and your little one an opportunity to be properly welcomed into the Bright Horizons family, and allow us to get to know your family.
To give your child the energy they need to grow, experiment in our science lab and create in our art room, we provide them with delicious and nutritious meals every day. These are prepared within our nursery by our own in-house chef using fresh ingredients.
Your child will also explore the hobbies they’ll love through our range of extracurricular activities including yoga, Spanish and in2sport sports coaching.
Our nursery in Guildford has great links to public transport, and is only a 5 minute drive to the Guildford town centre and London Road (Guildford) Station.
We are committed to providing families like yours with the best possible childcare available in Guildford. This has been recognised by local families who have given us a 9.6/10 score on daynurseries.co.uk and a 5/5 star rating on Google (as of August 2019). I began my career working with children in 1999 when my own four children were in school. I worked as a Teaching Assistant, Midday Supervisor and an After School Play worker. In June 2005, I began my Access to Teacher Training course and alongside this qualification I also gained my GCSE Biology and English. I progressed within my studies and completed my Foundation Degree Early Childhood Studies in 2009 and then I successfully completed my BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies in 2010.
I briefly continued my career in a local school, before joining the team at Starfish Day Nursery in 2012 as a Nursery Nurse, working in our toddler room. I was successful in being promoted to Preschool Principal in June 2012. I spent nearly two years in this role and thoroughly enjoyed using my knowledge, skills and experience to ensure all of the children in my care were nurtured towards their transition to school.
In April 2014, I applied for the role as Third in Charge and was successful in my interview. This role quickly turned into Acting Deputy Manager, until October 2014 when I was appointed the permanent position. I worked closely alongside the Nursery Manager, until August 2016 when I became the Nursery Manager. I enjoy my role within the nursery as I get to spend time with all the age groups of children as well as striving to provide a warm, enriched learning environment and support to all of my colleagues and families.
Hi my name is Laura and I have been working for Bright Horizons since September 2012. I gained my Level 3 Cache Diploma in 2008, and started working here straight after. I have been luckily enough to progress within the company and I have successfully managed a number of roles within the nursery including managing the baby room, toddler room before becoming Deputy Manager in 2016.
I enjoy the diversity of my role, as I am able to support Clare the Nursery Manager as well as working with the children and supporting my team. If you cannot find me at my desk you will often find me in the rooms with my team enjoying activities and playing with the children, especially the Puddle Ducks room.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
