I began my career working with children in 1999 when my own four children were in school. I worked as a Teaching Assistant, Midday Supervisor and an After School Play worker. In June 2005, I began my Access to Teacher Training course and alongside this qualification I also gained my GCSE Biology and English. I progressed within my studies and completed my Foundation Degree Early Childhood Studies in 2009 and then I successfully completed my BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies in 2010.
I briefly continued my career in a local school, before joining the team at Starfish Day Nursery in 2012 as a Nursery Nurse, working in our toddler room. I was successful in being promoted to Preschool Principal in June 2012. I spent nearly two years in this role and thoroughly enjoyed using my knowledge, skills and experience to ensure all of the children in my care were nurtured towards their transition to school.
In April 2014, I applied for the role as Third in Charge and was successful in my interview. This role quickly turned into Acting Deputy Manager, until October 2014 when I was appointed the permanent position. I worked closely alongside the Nursery Manager, until August 2016 when I became the Nursery Manager. I enjoy my role within the nursery as I get to spend time with all the age groups of children as well as striving to provide a warm, enriched learning environment and support to all of my colleagues and families.
Hi, my name is Amy and I have been working for Bright Horizons since May 2009. I gained my NVQ Level 3 in childcare as an apprentice at Guildford Boxgrove. Since gaining my qualification I have progressed in my career from apprentice to Nursery Nurse to Room Manager all within the baby and toddler rooms.
I became acting Deputy Manager in February 2020 to cover maternity leave and have remained in this position sharing the role with Laura.
I enjoy my role as it enables me to not only support the day to day running of the nursery, but also my colleagues with my knowledge and skills. I have particularly enjoyed getting to know the families and children in Tiggy Winkles and Pre School.
Hi my name is Laura and I have been working for Bright Horizons since September 2012. I gained my Level 3 Cache Diploma in 2008, and started working here straight after. I have been luckily enough to progress within the company and I have successfully managed a number of roles within the nursery including managing the baby room, toddler room before becoming Deputy Manager in 2016.
I enjoy the diversity of my role, as I am able to support Clare the Nursery Manager as well as working with the children and supporting my team. If you cannot find me at my desk you will often find me in the rooms with my team enjoying activities and playing with the children, especially the Puddle Ducks room.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
