Clapham Village

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Our nursery setting is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30, for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery, and we provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef. We offer state of the art ICT areas throughout, including a SMART table and iPads, as well as dedicated studios for our Growing Scientists, Growing Artists and Active Athletes programmes. Located a short walk from Clapham Common tube station on the Northern line, we are ideally situated for commuting parents. Alternatively, parents can take advantage of our Parent Hub, with parent relaxation area, hot desk and access to free wi-fi.

Meet the Team

Sarah Drinkwater

I have been at Clapham Village since pre-opening which was June 2014. I have worked in childcare since 2013 and have an NVQ level 2 in teaching assistance. I am currently working my way towards my Level 3 early years practitioner qualification. Watching children grow in confidence within the environment and setting them up for the future is very satisfying.

Kathleen Philpott

I have been with Bright Horizons since 2005, working in various Bright Horizons settings. I have been in childcare since 1998 and have a wide range of experience with 0-5years. I aspire each day to ensure that every child experiences the best child care and education driven by my passionate team of staff, I believe that children should experience magical moments each and every day at the nursery.

I hold a BA Hons in Early years since 2011 and have undertaken a wide range of training including First Aid at Work, Peadeatric First Aid and Food Hygiene. My passion is to drive the team to achieve the best possible outcomes for each child and to reach their own potential; the key to a great nursery is a great team.

April Marshall

I joined Clapham Village in 2014 as Preschool Room Leader and I am now Deputy Manager and the mentor for babies and toddlers. I have a level 3 diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce. I came into childcare after many years working in social services as I had a passion for teaching children to read and I was looking for a more child centred role. I have been in childcare since 2011 and the passion for working with children has continued to grow, working in partnership with families and practitioners to naturally inspire and provide exceptional care and education.

Peggy Mushota

I joined Clapham Village in January 2016 after transferring from another Bright horizons branch as a Deputy Manager and mentor for Rising 3’s and Preschool. Whilst I was at my previous nursery we were rated GOOD and then OUTSTANDING in 2014 by OFSTED. I have been in childcare since 1999 and I have a Level 3 in childcare and Education, I also have a level 3 in Management. I have a wide range of experience in childcare and plan to put this to the test to help Clapham Village achieve the best result.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
