Our Nursery and Preschool is set in a charming character building, providing a happy and stimulating environment for 3 month to 5-year-olds. Your little one will love exploring areas such as the art studio, sensory room and our large, landscaped garden.
A ‘Bright Beginning’ for Every Child
Designed by our Early Years specialists, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing focused Bright Beginnings Curriculum.
Building on the foundations of the government’s EYFS curriculum, it combines a wide range of activities to nurture and develop the skills your child needs to flourish and reach their full potential. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child’s development and progress – whether that’s moving rooms or preparing them for school.
Exploring the Outdoors
Children really enjoy playing in our sand pit, writing on the large chalk boards and getting messy in the mud kitchen. There’s even room for tricycles. Our nursery is also within walking distance to a park, so the children can explore and learn from the experience of group outings.
A separate sleep room ensures a quiet and peaceful space for your little one to recharge. We also have a fully-functioning children’s kitchen that inspires your little chefs to learn about making healthy, delicious food.
Preschoolers have the opportunity to enjoy swimming lessons.
An onsite chef holds a 5* EHO rating for food safety and hygiene and is dedicated to preparing healthy meals and snacks to keep your little one re-fueled for fun.
Wipes, formula, nappies and creams are also provided, so there’s even less to pack in the morning!
Handy onsite parking facilities and a designated buggy park allow for easy and convenient drop-off and pick-ups.

I began my career in childcare in 2000.
I studied at Godalming College for 3 years and gained my CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education and NVQ Level 3.
I have been working for Bright Horizons for the past 12 years starting as a nursery nurse in the baby room before being promoted to Baby Room Manager
I then went on to study and gain my Foundation Degree in Early Years at Guildford College
After a couple of years I was promoted to Third in Charge and then to Deputy Manager and became the Nursery Manager of Starfish Nursery, Guildford in 2014.
After 10 years at Guildford Boxgrove I was asked to transfer to Active Learning Dorking to broaden my managerial skills and use my knowledge to support a new team in a different nursery.
Since I was of a young age I knew I wanted to work with children. I love being here and enjoy watching the children come in with a beaming smile and watching them learn something new each day.
I'm the Deputy Manager at Active Learning Dorking, and have worked at the Nursery since 2012 when I joined the team as Third in Charge.
Whilst in the role of Third in Charge I spent time leading each of the rooms, building on my experience with all age groups from Babies and Toddlers, 2-3s to Preschool, I also supported the management team with the running of the Nursery as a whole.
I was promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2015, where I enjoy helping to lead our Nursery team and developing practice within the setting.
Before joining Active Learning I worked in a range of different Childcare settings in a variety of roles. I qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 2006 with an NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education alongside a Progression Award.
Every day is different at Nursery and I love to watch the children grow, develop and learn in our care.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
