Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Our nursery setting is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00, for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery, and we provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef. Permanent nursery care and back-up care available exclusively for Cisco employees. Children have access to our all-weather garden, which features a sensory area, mud kitchen and al fresco music area.

We are proud to have achieved Outstanding in our Ofsted inspection.

Meet the Team

Joanna Akram

I am the Cisco Early Years Manager while our Nursery Manager, Lucy Little is on maternity leave.

I have experience in a number of different settings from Early Years to Further Education.  I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.  I have lectured in Childcare and Education and Health and Social Care and worked as the head of a large college department overseeing more than 200 students and a team of 7 teachers.

I have two young children who attend a Bright Horizons Nursery and whilst on maternity leave, I trained in Pregnancy Massage and Baby Massage Instruction allowing me to continue my work with children and parents. My team and I have a passion for Early Years education and enjoy working in partnership with Cisco and its employees.

Linda Matthews

I transferred from Kids Unlimited to Cisco Early Years where I started as Third in Charge and Room Leader in Minnows.  I am currently Deputy Manager and Minnows Room Leader.
I feel privileged to be able to do the work I do.  I love working with children; they have so much to give.  Children are a gift, and the gift I give to them is gentle guidance, support and understanding. Seeing life through the eyes of a child is something special, each child is unique and should be given every opportunity to flourish.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
