Chelmsford Day Nursery & Preschool

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Chelmsford Day Nursery and Preschool will be a purpose built nursery that will offer high quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. There will be five individual rooms, each tailored to the children’s different age groups as well as a naturally inspiring outdoor play area where your child can explore and flourish. Our brand new nursery will offer a range of activities that will support your child’s development in a home-from-home environment. The nursery will also provide nutritionally balanced meals, prepared fresh each day by our onsite chef. The nursery is conveniently located in the north of Chelmsford, just 2 miles from the town centre.

The nursery will form part of the second phase of a new residential development ‘Beaulieu Park’. The residential developer will be creating a ‘Neighbourhood Centre’ which will include the nursery, a health centre, restaurant, community centre and an anchor food store. Conveniently located in the north of Chelmsford, just 2 miles from the town centre.

Meet the Team

Tom Diaper

Tom started working with children in 1997 as part of his Duke of Edinburgh award. He worked in nurseries and out of school clubs in a variety of roles, before taking a break from childcare to work as cabin crew for several major airlines, progressing his career to Cabin Crew Manager and Trainer.

Returning to children's services saw Tom working in a variety of roles including Development and Quality support on behalf of the local authority, Project Managing childcare initiatives such as childminding development, extended schools and early help. Most recently, prior to his role at Bright Horizons, Tom was a Regional Manager for a large children's charity, supporting nurseries, out of school clubs, youth services for the armed forces and early help targeted projects. When the charity closed suddenly, Tom decided to take the opportunity to return to nursery and work directly with children and families.

Tom is qualified to Level 4 with a Higher Diploma in Early Years, alongside Level 3 training in Playwork. He firmly believes that children should remain at the very centre of everything that we do and is a strong advocate for child led learning and effective family partnerships, supporting a child to achieve their very best potential.

Julie Wells

I have worked for Bright Horizons for just over 5 years, previously working for Bright Horizons in Carshalton when it opened in January 2013.  I have experience of what opening a new nursery entails and how to support the children, parents and a new staff team in ensuring everybody settles in well to the new surroundings. I have worked in the Early Years sector 21 years, most of this time has been spent working for two large chains which has given me a wide knowledge and experience in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Previous to this I worked in private families as a Nanny, both roles have given me experience with working with children 0 to 8 years old. I enjoy my role as a Deputy Manager as every day is different and it gives me new skills and knowledge all the time. I also hold the role as Health and Safety Officer and SOCCO alongside the Manager.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
