Enriching Learning Programmes
At our nursery in Edinburgh, your little one will get the best start to their schooling life through enriching learning experiences thanks to our Growing Enhancement programmes. These unique programmes introduce your child to essential key skills in subjects including maths, reading, writing, science, art, IT, sports, and more.
Children also enjoy Boogie Mites music sessions where they can learn about the world through music and song.
You can stay updated with your child's day through our Bright Horizons Family app.
Getting Ready for Their Next Steps
To ensure your little learner is confident to start school, preschoolers participate in our Ready for School programme, which structures and brings into focus maths, reading, writing and other essential skills they need to get ready for school.
Additional Lessons and Specialist Rooms
To further enrich your child's nursery experience, they take part in a variety of language classes. We also have a dining room where the children eat together and learn about the importance of mealtimes, as well as a cosy and quiet sleeping room for peaceful naps.

Our garden provides hours of endless fun and exploration for all the children, with age-specific areas providing the best resources and activities for each age group. We also have a gardening area where your child can plant their own vegetables, and lots of natural woodlands to explore.

Request a call backI have over 15 years of experience working with children and most of that time I have been in a supervisory position. I have worked in the voluntary, statutory and private sector. I have completed an SVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education, a BA in Early Childhood Studies and courses with the Open University in Working with Families and Child Development. I believe that continuous learning is important and I encourage my team to attend training.
I have worked with Bright Horizons as a manager since 2008. In February 2015 I transferred from Cramond Nursery to Morton Mains Nursery where I love the outside opportunities for the children.
We try to work with the children and their families and their participation in the life of the centre is very important to me. I think it is great to see the children grow and develop into confident individuals.
My name is Shirley McCormack and I have been with Bright horizons at Morton Mains for eight years as the senior of the Baby room and now as Lead Practitioner too. I have worked in Childcare for over 30 years, 25 of those in a senior position, I have The HNC in Childcare and I am currently studying for my Level 4 childcare qualification.
I have worked in child care for 15 years and during that time worked with all age groups 0-5 years.
I joined Bright Horizons Morton Mains in 2010 as an Early Years Practitioner and worked my way up, becoming a Senior and then into my current role as Third in Charge.
Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.
Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
