A welcoming and inspiring nursery in Cramond

You and your child will love our bright and spacious Cramond Early Learning and Childcare. Set in the green outskirts of Edinburgh, our creative activities and fun learning environments support your child's development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

Our purpose-built Cramond nursery has different rooms for each age group, full of exciting resources to spark your child's natural curiosity. The baby room features a range of sensory toys that, along with the guidance of our caring staff, help your little one to start crawling, walking and saying their first words. Toddlers and preschoolers have cosy, dedicated reading nooks in their rooms, along with art corners, indoor apparatus, natural materials for heuristic play and much more.

Outside, children enjoy learning about nature and developing their motor skills and balance on tricycles and climbing frames. We also take the children on regular trips in the local community where they can spot wildlife and learn in natural environments. This includes outings to the park, beach and woodlands.

Our nursery in Cramond is located close to local bus routes, with all-inclusive fees that mean you don't have to worry about bringing any meals, snacks, nappies, wipes or cream. All of our nutritionally-balanced meals are prepared with fresh ingredients by our own skilled chef.

We are a Partner Provider nursery, and we proudly offer afternoon wraparound care to Cramond School nursery.

We would love to meet you and your child, so book a visit with us today and we will show you all our nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

Meet the Team

Cramond Early Learning and Childcare Deputy Manager

Lorraine Mossie

On leaving school in 1996 I started a part time college course studying an SVQ 2 in childcare and education. My work placement was at the Birrell Collection Nursery at Bruntsfield. I continued to work here after I finished my qualification and went on to complete my level 3.

In 2003, The Birrell Collection opened Cramond Nursery. I moved here as Deputy Manager and helped to develop and build up the nursery. In 2005, the nursery was acquired by Bright Horizons Family Solutions and I have continued to work here since then. My most recent qualification was a level 4 in Childcare in Education.

I have enjoyed watching the nursery grow over the years, embracing the changes in the child care field and implementing them positively throughout the nursery. I have also loved to see the children develop and progress, and to see families return with their second and even third child!

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
