Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Our nursery setting is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:00, for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We offer a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery, and we provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by our own chef. With our well-equipped, age appropriate gardens, children can extend their play and learning. Our highly qualified team helped us secure a Very Good rating in our latest Care Inspectorate.

Meet the Team

Sharon Sammels

I have worked with Bright Horizons since 2003 in various roles, starting as a Nursery Nurse and progressing to Manager in 2007. I have worked in nurseries since 1999 after I completed my HNC in Childcare and Education qualification. Since then I have undertaken my PDA in Early Education and Childcare and then gained my BA Childhood Practice in 2011.

I have always wanted to work in childcare - I volunteered at my local nursery class and completed work experience in a nursery while I was still at school. It is a very rewarding job and I feel very privileged to be part of the lives of the young children we care for and educate.

Kate Hubbert

I have worked for Bright Horizons since 2007. I worked at our Cramond nursery in a senior role up until 2015 when I was promoted to Lead Practitioner at Elsie Inglis nursery.

I have worked in nurseries since leaving college in 2003 where I gained my BTEC National Diploma in Early Years. Since moving to Edinburgh, I have completed my PDA in Early Education and Childcare. As well as experience of being a Nursery Practitioner I also worked for a year as a one to one support worker. I am very passionate about my role and pleased to be able to support the children in my care with their everyday and ever expanding learning and development.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
